    ask
what type of scheduling programs are you familar with  ?
years of experience using scheduling programs ?
largest CPM network worked with in terms of # of activities ?
what do they see as the main methodology in scheduling- should be - plan, monitor, control
how would you define float, and free float ?
what dates are calcuated during the forward and backward passes
are you familar with fragnets ?
have you incorporated changes to schedules ?
do you have any claims experience ?
have you worked with resources ? i.e cost and manpower loaded schedules
who are you familiar are you with excel ? i.e. importing and exporting information

    could go on forever

    Hello master

    I need clarity

Are you familar with fragnets. what are fragnets
Have you incorporated changes to schedules? Do you mean where re-planning is done.
Have you worked with resources ? i.e cost and manpower loaded schedules. do you mean allocating resources like gangs or team where applicable.

yes I am very familar with fragents

fragnets refer to parts or pieces of a schedule

I have and continue to incoproate them into my schedules

I make a fragent for each change notice or extra work item that is issued to me and I incorporate that fragent into the main schedule and see if it has impacted the project.

Yes I have worked and I am working with fully resource loaded schedule. The resources I use are comprised of costs, manhours and quantities for each activity in the schedule.

I allocate manhours for each activity not gangs or teams. If i know how many manhours I have I can tell how many men that I need.

We do not estimate our projects in gangs we do it in manhours. Your take off and reporting should be at the lowest level which is manhours. What do you report on a time sheet ? How many gangs were used ?
    No you report your manhours.

A start to start relationships (SS) are use to represent activities that cah satrt at the same time or can overlap
for example I want to install conduit then pull wire. I donot have to wait until all my conduit is installed before I begin pulling wire I only need to make sure that I have enough conduit installed so that my wire never catches up with it.

Finish to Start (FS) relationships are used when something has to be 100% complete before its successor can begin. For example if I can not begin excavation until I have my permits. OR I need to have my studs walls installed before I can begin hanging the drywall

Finish to Finish (FF) is used when to activities can finish at the same time regarless of when they can start. For example I can finish door installation at the same time as I am trimming out a room.

NEVER USE SF it makes no sense

    see attachment for more info

    Hi ZPALFFY

I am looking for a solution that when I am entering some activity with having some duration, in start date & finish date it shows perfectly, but in WBS summary band & in Original duration column sum of duration never come exactly. Example I am entering 3 duration 23, 29, 25 but in original duration column & WBS row it shows 25 or any thing. I already checked Admin Preference – time period & calendar & user preference, every thing right on their place I assigned 6 days work per week.
Could YOU help me about this query??
    Thank you
    Madan

it does not total all of the durations it is the total duration from the start date of the 1st activity in that wbs grouping to the finish of the last activity in that WBS

my job is not to satisfy you.

but it is exaclty as I told you it takes the start date on the first activity in the wbs and the finish date of the last activity in the wbs and then calculates the duration between these two dates.

just as you have it above
    wbs is 22 days
starts on actviity A1000 25.07.11 and finishes with activity A1002 on 23.08.11 which is 22 days.

That is because Activity A1002 is on a 6 day calendar

it will never match with multiple calendars

checking the default calendar will do nothing for you because he is using multiple calendars.

if that that is the case and you only have one calendat then you have two options
option #1 do as mc ramos suggested and go to
    Enterprise
    Calendars
and check the the 6 day calendar as your default

    option#2
WORKAROUND #1 (for versions 6.2.1 and earlier): Add a WBS Summary Activity within each WBS and this will allow you to set the Calendar for which it uses to calculate the duration. This will only work if Grouped by WBS.
